Field Service and Design Engineer
Position Title: Field Service/Design Engineer


Job Summary:

This position includes two areas of accountability.

Approximately 60% of the job includes responsibility for all aspects of field services required for CSS. This includes startup, training and trouble shooting of both new and existing installations for existing customers, and the development of new customers. Components include PLC, OIT, VFD and general industrial control panels. Work to include installation, wiring and programming (60%)

The remaining 40% of this position has responsibility for design of industrial control panels manufactured by CSS, including design of construction projects which contain Motor Control Centers, enclosed Variable Speed Drives, and other control panel opportunities as they arise.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Field service for all types of industrial controls, whether sold by CS&S or not.
  • Startup of PLC and OIT applications, programmed by CS&S Engineering.
  • Startup of drives and solid state starters sold by CS&S.
  • Coordinate required components necessary to complete field service.
  • Coordinate all tasks to insure delivery schedule on field service projects.
  • Maintain existing field service opportunities and attain new ones.
  • Assist in as built drawings, per customers field requirements.
  • Ability to write, diagnose and resolve systems control logic requirements and to relate this information to the engineering and drafting department.

Responsibilities in Design:

  • Control panel design utilizing product knowledge and experience.
  • Design of schematics for construction projects.
  • Component specification.
  • VFD design specialist.

Skills and Qualifications:

This person must be a well-organized team player, able to handle multiple jobs, to prioritize and meet production needs; a detail-oriented, self-starter, with strong sense of urgency.

  • Minimum two year electrical trade school degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the electrical control and industrial automation industry.
  • Equivalent combination of work experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • Ability to interact with customers, employees and vendors in a team effort.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical assembly and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with the National Electrical Code, CE and UL 508A Standard for ICP.
  • Working knowledge of NEMA, ANSI and JIC standards.
  • A current, valid drivers license and a vehicle.
